I don't know if congratulations are in order to Angel Cabrera for winning the 2007 U.S. Open, or a shame on you. Or maybe a shame on the PGA, the USGA, and NBC is more appropriate. It's incredibly disheartening to see a " professional athlete" smoking cigarettes while participating in any sporting event, but to see them getting their "fix" while the event is being televised worldwide, and to millions of kids, is a total disgrace. Big Tobacco/Pharmaceutical companies should be indebted to Cabrera for many more millions of dollars for creating that image in the minds of millions of young golfers who aspire to play on the PGA Tour. I personally stopped bowling professionally in about 1998 because of the cigarette smoke, but even when bowling in a PBA event, the bowlers weren't allowed to smoke while participating. More info about this and how the governing bodies of bowling have played a role in helping bowling center owners/proprietors fight against smoking bans by going to Learn to Bowl.com.
What the heck is going on with the PGA and the USGA for allowing this in 2007? Is there no integrity in the world anymore or is the dollar the ultimate decider of everything? As a whole, I believe there is no better group of professional athletes in the world than golfers. I believe many of the golfers don't like the "smoking allowed" rule either, but it's hard to do too much complaining when you make as much money as many professional golfers do. It makes sense that most don't want to rock the boat.
We WILL rock the boat, so please let us know how you feel. Thank you for your feedback.

We've sent emails to the PGA/USGA, and NBC Sports and have not received a reply from any of them. We want NBC to correct the misleading comments that were made that basically gave the impression that cigarettes are a relaxant. This is not true, as nicotine is a stimulant.
We have received feedback from our comments posted at World Golf.com. Here is the reply we made to a reader who told us to relax, and that he thought there was nothing wrong with letting the golfers smoke while they're playing. It's outside, it's not indoors like a bowling alley.
